The Chineke! Foundation (www.chineke.org) was founded in 2015 by the double bass player, Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE. Chineke!'s mission is "championing change and celebrating diversity in classical music". Chineke! is fulfilling this mission through the work of the majority Black, Asian and ethnically diverse professional Chineke! Orchestra which has played at leading festivals across the UK and abroad including the BBC Proms and at Southbank Centre where it is an Associate Orchestra; by the creation of the Chineke! Junior Orchestra which gives performing opportunities for 11-22 year old Black, Asian and ethnically diverse musicians; and via a Learning & Participation programme which takes the joy and stimulation of creative music-making into schools throughout the country.
